The assignment

Film Utah after dark.

The Good Line brought families and stargazers into Antelope Island, Canyonlands, and the Uinta Mountains. Filming them beneath the night sky meant coordinating people, equipment, and long nights in remote locations.

David supported the crew as a field producer and captured photographs, aerial footage, and night-sky images across all three locations.

01 / Three landscapes

“Some shoots feel more like an adventure with your friends than a job. One moment you’re chasing a car with a drone. The next you’re protecting gear from a sand storm. Later, you’re standing in silence on a canyon rim as the stars begin to appear.”— David White

Antelope Island

The island is a great location to escape the city lights and see the Milky Way.

The Great Salt Lake has pulled back a long way from its old shoreline.

Canyonlands

A slice of the river reflects the stars above.

The Uintas

Settling down next to the river for a family star party.

Sometimes you just sit back and watch Mother Nature do her thing.

02 / After sunset

First a planet or two appears. Then you can see the constellations. Before you know it, the Milky Way is stretching the whole way across the sky. Time to start shooting.

03 / The work behind the frame

Sometimes location scouting is the best part.

Field production means paying attention to everything at once: the crew, the people on camera, and the conditions around them. With The Good Line, that work is shared, from hauling gear to reworking a setup when the weather turns.
